Riksutställningar
(Swedish Travelling Exhibitions) is Sweden's leading producer
of touring exhibitions. Its operations are designed to give
scope to poetry and the imagination, gravity and playfulness.
Its specific mandate is to communicate knowledge of people and
the world about them, to stimulate public discussion and opinion,
and to provide a forum for all manner of artistic and creative
expression, by means of high quality exhibitions. The company's
work first began in 1965, and by 1996 its turnover amounted
to 39 million Swedish krona. With a staff of 100, and over 30
exhibitions on tour at any one time, Riksutställningar leads
its particular specialist field.
The extra
Five artists participate in this special exhibition. The Extra
can be a performance or a process. The theme is excess, which
brings to mind associations with the Welfare State, as well
as all that is emotional and irrational. Contributing artists
are Anna Brag, Mikael Richter, Karl Johan Stigmark, Gitte Villesen
and Elin Wikström.
The artist Mikael Richter is looking for a person who, for
a specific period, will do nothing.
Your personal qualities will be rated highly, and we take it
for granted that you are alert, inquisitive, independent-minded,
and used to accepting responsibility. We also assume that you
are qualified and with relevant experience. And if you have
the additional ability to stimulate public opinion, then so
much the better. It is also something of an advantage if you
are interested in shaping the future, yours and everyone else's.
The person we are looking for is:
a good communicator, both verbally and in writing.
purposeful and resolute
Your main task will be to:
Do absolutely nothing whatsoever, and it's up to you to make
sure that nothing gets done. You must be prepared to laze around
quite a bit, and a number of weekday lie-ins might well be necessary.
